A team of 5 children from South Worcestershire Lifesaving & Lifeguard Club travelled to the national pool at Swansea to take part in the SLSA Welsh Stillwater lifeguard championships at the weekend and came away with 3 golds, 2 silvers and a bronze medal.

Amy Weston and Helena Leach took part in the girls 16 and under category both achieving impressive times for their races. Amy came away with a gold in the Rescue Medley, a silver in the 100m manikin tow and a bronze in the 50m manikin carry.

Alex Jackson (pictured on the left in the picture) took part in the boys 16 and under category and blasted his way to significant personal best times in every race, being rewarded with a gold in the 100m Manikin Tow and 2 silvers one in the 100m rescue medley and the other in the 100m manikin carry with fins missing the gold medal in that event by 0.01 of a second.

In the 14 and under category Lara Harding and Tom Clifford (pictured on the left in the picture) took part in their first competition with a full manikin (weighs approximately 8 stone) again both achieving amazing results.

Tom was reward right in the last event with a Gold medal in the 100m manikin carry with fins. A great start to the year setting the kids up nicely for the RLSS nationals speeds competition in February at Sheffield.
